Biomass gives the highest return

Recent research entitled "Investing in renewable energy. The financial benefits for companies" - sponsored by Centrobanca and carried out by Prof. Alessandro Nova of the Department of Finance at Bocconi University - examined the timing, costs and return on investment involved in producing energy from renewable sources (mini-hydroelectric, wind, photovoltaic, solid and liquid biomass, and biogas). This research maintains that producing energy from biomass guarantees the best performance: efficiencies ranging from 26.8% in the case of biogas, to 37.4% in the case of vegetable and/or animal oils.

All this without taking into account the positive effects of the recent Italian Law no. 99 of 15 August 2009, which introduced further incentives for the producers of energy from biomass by increasing the value of Green Certificates by around 20%.
