Termoindustriale is the exclusive partner in Italy and Romania for the biofuel solutions of MAN, the leading producer of "Medium" and "Low-Speed" engines.
The use of vegetable oil to fuel these engines dates back to as long ago as 1892, when Rudolf Diesel patented the engine named after him (built in what is today the MAN Diesel factory in Augsburg, Germany) designed to run on vegetable oil.
Fossil fuels were only introduced subsequently when it was discovered they were cheaper, and their harmful effects on the environment and the health of human beings were still unknown.

Today, the creation of a favourable legislative context (which in Italy began with the so-called Bersani Decree) has made it possible to opt for well-established energy-producing solutions which are both commercially and environmentally beneficial.

Long life, reliability and high efficiency

All the eco.ti® power plants use heavy Medium and Low Speed engines. So, eco.ti® power plants guarantee:

• a longer life and greater reliability;
• improved energy efficiency (up to 51% electrical efficiency, depending on the size of the plant);
• reduced maintenance and running costs;
• flexibility: the possibility of using both vegetable and animal oils.

The high energy efficiency of eco.ti® power plants can be further increased (for smaller-sized plant too) by combining them with an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC). This allows part of the thermal energy contained in the combustion fumes to be converted into electricity too. ORC technology guarantees energy efficiency of between 18 and 25% of the thermal energy contained in the combustion fumes, depending on the applications.

Unlike other brands on the market today, eco.ti® does not even need diesel to cold-start and stop the engines. Clearly this provides technical, logistical, economic and administrative advantages, as well as unquestionable environmental benefits.

Thermal energy recovery: yet another advantage

eco.ti® power plants guarantee a rapid return on investment, even if they are only used to produce electricity.
In an industrial setting, however, it is easy to find opportunities to also exploit the thermal energy produced by the power station (cogeneration), or to convert it into cooling energy (trigeneration) to be used in air conditioning or industrial production processes.
In these cases the efficiency of an eco.ti® power plant increases significantly, guaranteeing major energy savings, as well as the possibility of benefiting from Energy Efficiency Credits (the so-called White Certificates) which reward such savings.
